  Josh Bivens joined the Economic Policy Institute in 2002. His areas of research concern macroeconomics and the impact of globalization on the U.S. and developing economies. He has previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Economics at Roosevelt University in Chicago and as an economist at the Congressional Research Service in Washington, DC. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the New School for Social Research. His writing has appeared in The American Prospect, Challenge Magazine, and Worth, as well as in academic journals including the International Review of Applied Economics and the Journal of Economic Issues. He co-authored the book Good Jobs, Bad Jobs, No Jobs: Labor Markets and Informal Work in Egypt, El Salvador, India, Russia, and South Africa that explores the question - do better workers lead to better jobs in the developing world?
